Essure is trending right now in the USA. The US FDA can no longer ignore all the complaints. It only took YEARS to get here.
The official US FDA Advisory:
June 24, 2015: FDA plans to hold a meeting of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee to discuss the risks and benefits of Bayer HealthCare’s Essure System for permanent female sterilization (P020014). The meeting will be held on September 24, 2015. (Click for the link)
More information here.
According to this health tourism website, there are several hospitals that offer Essure. Last year when Essure problems was all over US news, a friend of Filipinos for Life called Makati Med the same day, to inquire about it. Here’s how her phone call went:
I called up Makati Medical and YES, they do ESSURE, under the procedure called HYSTEROSCOPY. I asked to be directed to the Delivery Room and learned na Php 32,000 ang procedure (exclusive of the professional fee). I called again to confirm, tapos all of a sudden, someone had to refrain the person I was talking to when she mentioned Essure and metal coils. Biglang iniba na ang info. Hindi pa raw sila nag e-Essure, hysteroscopy lang daw and removal of polyps. Eh on the first phone call I was informed that about 4 women per day on average goes to Makati Medical Center for Essure, tapos second call binago, wala pa raw sila nun.
