I am my mother’s fourth child, the third one miscarried four years before I was born. My mother inherited a lot of illnesses from her father, including a weak heart and hypertension. When my mother consulted her doctor upon learning that she was pregnant with me, she was advised to go see someone who would terminate the pregnancy because he feared for my mother’s life if I were to be delivered with my mother very sick.
Yes, I was supposed to be aborted by some back-alley fly-by-night underworld anonymous abortionist. I wasn’t supposed to be born.
