Ladlad for RH Bill?

Ladlad Prods Congress on passage of RH bill

Ladlad is a national organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Filipinos. Given that LGBTs’ sexual orientation naturally precludes any connection to REPRODUCTION, what is their interest in prodding Congress to pass the REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH bill?

There will not be pregnancies involved nor infants to worry about for this particular segment of society, since homosexual behavior doesn’t result in pregnancy. There are no family planning officials to meet with and no required family planning classes prior to obtaining a marriage license, since procreation is hardly their goal.

They don’t need contraceptives since man+man or woman+woman do not babies make — no “conception” happening there. Claims to being “pro-life” is merely lip service as pro-life implicitly and explicitly requires respecting, supporting and defending the process that CREATES new life.

Why would LADLAD give their all-out support for the REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH or RESPONSIBLE PARENTHOOD bill? Several possible reasons:

  • Sex education which is one of the major components of what international organizations term “human rights”. The LGBT community has long felt marginalized. Their solution? Indoctrinate the young so that acceptance of the LGBT lifestyle becomes the new normal.
  • Free or low-cost access to condoms, which they believe will bring down incidence of HIV/AIDS. Newsflash #1: HIV/AIDS incidence in Thailand rises despite widespread condom use. Newsflash #2: LGBT communities recognize that HIV is largely a Gay Disease. Newsflash #2: the teaching of Abstinence and Fidelity works better. Look at Uganda.
  • It’s one more reason to go against the Catholic Church, which does not condone homosexual behavior. This post full of animosity towards the Church and Her teachings displays the reverse discrimination that typifies the LGBT arsenal.

Note the Church’s actual teachings about homosexuality:

Chastity and homosexuality

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Let us remember also that the Catholic Church funds 25% of HIV/AIDS care the world over, including 117,000 centers for AIDS patients. If the Catholic Church cares nothing for HIV/AIDS victims, why spend that much money for their care? Perhaps if people would place logic first before emotion, they would actually come to the conclusion that Church teaching about homosexual behavior isn’t off the mark at all, as doctors themselves have admitted. Faith and reason can coexist. Think about it.
