BREAKING: CBCP Disengages from TWG

At this afternoon’s (17 February 2011) meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Senate Committee on Population, the CBCP formally disengaged itself from the TWG crafting the RH Bill.
Atty. Jo Imbong, CBCP Legal Counsel, manifested that, in consonance with the Church’s stand as strongly stated in a 31 January 2011 Pastoral Statement, the CBCP cannot lend its voice to a measure that undermines fundamental rights and the ideals and inspirations of the Filipinos as enshrined in the Constitution.
